West Bengal government reaffirms commitment to drug-free state
The West Bengal government has reaffirmed its commitment to making the state drug-free through a zero-tolerance policy against illegal narcotics and trafficking networks. Authorities are intensifying enforcement efforts to protect public health and prevent substance abuse among the youth.
Following a recent operation in the South Dinajpur district, police seized and destroyed approximately 200,000 bottles of illegally obtained and smuggled codeine-containing cough syrup. In response to these enforcement actions, Labore Pharmaceuticals India Limited has submitted a formal proposal to cooperate with the state's mission. The company pledged that its product, ‘Ascof Syrup’, will no longer be sold directly to dealers or through local sales depots within West Bengal. Additionally, the company has recalled all existing stock of the product from its local depots in the state.
