West Bengal minister says ED summon can't shield Abhishek Banerjee

West Bengal minister Dileep Ghosh on June 4, 2026 criticised Trinamool Congress (TMC) MP Abhishek Banerjee after the Enforcement Directorate (ED) issued a summons for him. Ghosh said, "अभिषेक बनर्जी कानून से बचने का प्रयास कर रहे, यह संभव नहीं है," alleging Banerjee is trying to evade the law in a case involving alleged irregularities in primary‑teacher recruitment and money‑laundering.

ED officers attempted to serve the summons at two of Banerjee’s residences in South Kolkata – the "Shantiniketan" house on Harish Mukherjee Road and a second house on Kalighat Road near his aunt, former chief minister Mamata Banerjee – but he was not present at either location. The agency has scheduled another personal appearance on June 15. Ghosh also warned that the TMC name should be erased, calling the party "a burden on Bengal" for the past 15 years.
