West Bengal police arrest Jahangir Khan's wife near India-Nepal border

West Bengal police, assisted by the Central Armed Police Forces, captured Regina Bibi, the wife of Trinamool Congress (TMC) leader Jahangir Khan, after she had been on the run for three days. The arrest took place near the India‑Nepal border and is linked to a planned attack on the Falta police station aimed at freeing Khan, who had already been detained.

Authorities say Regina Bibi acted as a mastermind, organizing a meeting that outlined how supporters would gather three kilometres from the station and launch a coordinated assault. Following her arrest, a total of 26 suspects have been taken into custody. She has been charged under the Indian Penal Code 2023, the Arms Act 1959, and the Explosives Act 1884. State Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari has ordered the seizure of assets belonging to those involved, with proceeds to compensate public‑property damage.
