Minar Mondal was arrested and later questioned; he told investigators the assets belonged to his brother‑in‑law Tulu Mondal, who is alleged to have links to illegal sand and stone mining syndicates and whose gold biscuits were reportedly sourced illegally from Dubai. Following the seizure, police sealed Tulu Mondal’s residence in Suri. West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari praised the operation on social media, reiterating the state’s “zero‑tolerance” policy against corruption and organised crime. The total value of the recovered assets is estimated at roughly ₹50 crore.
