West Bengal politics: TMC veteran exits, BJP warns communists
Long‑time TMC associate Tapen Dasgupta, who worked with Mamata Banerjee for about four decades, resigned from the Trinamool Congress, citing denial of an election ticket and internal factionalism. He signalled a possible move to the Bharatiya Janata Party, suggesting his departure could hurt the weakened TMC organization in the state.
Former BJP state chief and ex‑governor Tathagata Roy warned the BJP to remain vigilant after the recent assembly election, urging the party to prevent the Communist Party of India (Marxist) from exploiting any political vacuum. Roy highlighted that the CPI(M) secured only one seat in the election but warned against any resurgence as the TMC fragments.
