West Bengal to include Mookerjee and Pranabananda in school curriculum

West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari has announced plans to integrate the contributions of Syama Prasad Mookerjee, founder of the Bharatiya Jana Sangh, and Swami Pranabananda, founder of the Bharat Sevashram Sangha, into the state school curriculum. Speaking at a National Teachers' Day event, Adhikari stated that their roles were instrumental in the creation of West Bengal and in protecting lives during the Partition of India.

To support educational infrastructure, the government has approved 300 crore rupees in composite grants for state-run and aided schools. The administration also intends to mandate the singing of ‘Vande Mataram’ in schools and place greater emphasis on traditional sports and National Cadet Corps training.

In tandem with these curriculum changes, Vidya Bharati, the educational wing of the RSS, is planning a significant expansion. Currently operating 313 schools across 150 blocks, the organization aims to establish at least one institution in every block of the state, targeting a network of at least 1,000 schools in the coming years.
