West Bengal weather forecast predicts dry conditions ahead of Durga Puja

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) predicts a shift toward drier weather across West Bengal, providing relief ahead of the Durga Puja festival. A weather system, including a depression over the north Andaman Sea and adjoining Myanmar coast, is moving away from the region, leading to the weakening of the north-south trough that previously brought rain.

South Bengal and Kolkata are expected to experience predominantly dry, sunny, or partly cloudy conditions over the coming week. While no heavy rain warnings have been issued for these areas, residents may encounter high humidity, sultry daytime temperatures, and isolated light showers. In contrast, North Bengal may see light to moderate rainfall in districts such as Kalimpong, Alipurduar, Cooch Behar, and Jalpaiguri.

The gradual withdrawal of the southwest monsoon is also contributing to these drier patterns across the country.
