West Best Bloc Fest expands with all-ages focus in Newcastle
The fifth edition of the West Best Bloc Fest is scheduled to take place on Sunday, October 4, in Newcastle. Following the departure of previous public face Dylan Oakes to Britain, co-directors Wanagi Zable-Andrews and Chris Barnett are taking a more prominent role in leading the event.
The festival is expanding its appeal to include more all-ages acts and underage bands. This year's program is set to feature 80 musical sets performed by more than 300 musicians. The event will be spread across 10 stages and nine different venues, including the King Street Hotel, Happy Wombat, and Maru Hi-Fi.
The growth and scale of the festival were facilitated by a grant from the state government's Sound NSW program.
