West Central Railway launches water safety campaign

West Central Railway has launched a major campaign to ensure the availability of clean and safe drinking water for passengers across its network. The initiative covers 284 stations within the Jabalpur, Bhopal, and Kota divisions.

As part of the intensive monitoring process, railway teams have inspected water sources, storage tanks, and supply systems. Recent efforts included the cleaning of 9,850 taps and water booths, as well as the cleaning of 1,086 water tanks. Additionally, 130 locations underwent pipeline repairs or replacements over the past month.

To maintain safety standards, 893 water samples were collected for testing, all of which met prescribed quality standards. The railway employs a three-stage testing process, including daily residual chlorine checks and bacteriological testing for E. coli and coliform bacteria. The monitoring extends beyond stations to include railway residential colonies and hospitals.
