West Ham manager Nuno Espirito Santo apologizes after Charlton defeat

West Ham United manager Nuno Espirito Santo has apologized to supporters following a 2-1 home defeat to Charlton Athletic. Charlton's goals were provided by Lloyd Jones and Tyreece Campbell. West Ham's lone goal came from Joel Piroe, but a late penalty attempt by Valentin Castellanos struck the woodwork. Nuno expressed disappointment regarding the team's lack of precision in the penalty area, stating, “It's disappointing, but it's us who failed. We failed the fans. We should apologize.”

Amidst the poor start on the pitch, Nuno has also communicated specific requirements to the West Ham board regarding the final stages of the transfer window. The club is currently navigating a period of ownership transition, with Daniel Kretinsky increasing his stake to become the largest shareholder alongside joint-chair Vanessa Gold.
