West Ham United faces setbacks in summer transfer market

West Ham United’s summer recruitment is encountering difficulties. The club has been linked with Brighton winger Tommy Watson, who recorded zero goals and zero assists in sixteen Championship appearances last season, raising doubts about his suitability for the Premier League.

The Hammers’ effort to sell striker Niclas Fullkrug has also faltered. After a lackluster spell at AC Milan – one goal in twenty Serie A games – no buyer materialised, and a proposed move to Venezia collapsed in favour of younger forward Akor Adams. West Ham are now hoping to recoup part of the £27 million investment, but offers have been scarce.

With only Keiber Lamadrid and youngster Jett Murphy confirmed as pre‑season signings, and pre‑season fixtures already scheduled, concerns grow over manager Nuno Espírito Santo’s recruitment strategy and the financial impact of high‑cost contracts on the club’s budget.
