West Ham United manages squad overhaul and player reintegration

West Ham United has undergone significant squad changes under manager Nuno Espírito Santo. Following the £85m sale of Mateus Fernandes to Tottenham, the club invested £22m to sign Belgian midfielder Arne Engels. Recruitment chief Nils Koppen noted that the decision to go “all in” on Engels was driven by the manager's specific requirement for a player with a “big engine” to stabilize the center of the pitch.

Meanwhile, the club is managing several high-profile players currently sidelined from first-team plans. While Edson Alvarez, Soungoutou Magassa, and Maxwel Cornet have been considered outcasts, Magassa appears to be the only one of the trio likely to earn redemption under Espírito Santo. Magassa has recently returned to the matchday squad for games against Fulham and Millwall, signaling a potential reconciliation following previous tensions between the player and the club.
