West Ham United signs Joel Piroe on loan from Leeds United

West Ham United has officially signed striker Joel Piroe from Leeds United on an initial season-long loan. The deal includes an obligation to make the transfer permanent in the summer of 2027, with the total package estimated to be worth between £8 million and £12 million depending on specific clauses and bonuses.

Piroe, a 27-year-old Surinamese international, joins the Hammers following a successful stint at Leeds, where he scored 34 goals in 118 appearances. He notably finished the 2024-25 Championship season as the league's top scorer with 19 goals, helping Leeds secure promotion to the Premier League.

The move is seen as a strategic addition for manager Nuno Espirito Santo as West Ham seeks promotion back to the Premier League. Piroe will wear the number nine shirt and joins other recent summer signings including Manor Solomon, Arne Engels, and Joel Veltman.
