David Vulin to avoid criminal charges after West Hollywood altercation
David Vulin, a West Hollywood resident, will not face criminal charges following a viral confrontation with conservative influencer Ryley Niemi in April. The Los Angeles County District Attorney’s office confirmed the case was referred for pre-filing diversion, and no criminal charges will be filed.
The incident occurred on Santa Monica Boulevard when Niemi and a crew approached Vulin, his husband Anthony, and their infant son. The group reportedly claimed to be filming for CNN, though they were not affiliated with the network. During the encounter, Niemi questioned the couple regarding their parenting and made unsubstantiated claims regarding gay men and child molestation.
The exchange turned physical, leading to Vulin’s arrest on suspicion of battery and vandalism. Following the completion of a diversion agreement, a Los Angeles County Superior Court judge is set to seal the records related to the arrest. While the couple expressed relief, they noted disappointment that the provocateur faced no consequences for the interaction.
