West Indies players headline Abu Dhabi T10 tournament

Sixteen West Indies internationals are set to compete in the upcoming Abu Dhabi T10 tournament, which will take place at Zayed Cricket Stadium from November 7 to 20. The tournament features a heavy presence of Caribbean talent, with every participating franchise including at least one West Indian player.

Four of the six marquee icon players signed before the draft are from the West Indies. Notable players include Kieron Pollard, who leads the defending champion UAE Bulls; Jason Holder for the Yas Lions; Nicholas Pooran, captain of the Royal Desert Champions; and Rovman Powell, who heads the Emirates Eagles. Additionally, Andre Russell has joined the Arabian Aces, and Odean Smith has been drafted by the United Tigers.

The T10 format, consisting of 60-ball innings, emphasizes power hitting. West Indian players have historically performed well in this format, with Nicholas Pooran previously serving as the leading run-getter and Player of the Tournament in 2022.
