West Indies players penalized by ICC for conduct violations
West Indies batters Rovman Powell and Sherfane Rutherford have been reprimanded and issued one demerit point each by the International Cricket Council (ICC) for violating the Code of Conduct during the second T20I against India in Ranchi.
Powell was found guilty of breaching Article 2.2, which concerns the abuse of cricket equipment or clothing. The violation occurred in the sixth over when he hit the ball away with his bat after being dismissed by Mayank Yadav.
Rutherford was sanctioned under Article 2.8 for showing dissent toward an umpire's decision. The incident took place in the 13th over when he aggressively yelled at the official after a delivery was not ruled wide. Both players accepted the offenses and the resulting sanctions.
