West Indies set record 405-run ODI total against India
West Indies set a new record in One Day International (ODI) cricket by scoring 405/7 against India in the second match of a three-match series in Guwahati. This marks the first time the West Indies have surpassed the 400-run mark in an ODI.
The Caribbean side's innings featured three centuries: Amir Jangoo scored 114 runs from 77 balls, captain Shai Hope contributed 104, and John Campbell added 101. This total also stands as the West Indies' highest score against India, surpassing their previous record of 333 set in 1983.
India's bowling performance struggled significantly. Fast bowler Akib Nabi had a difficult ODI debut, conceding 84 runs in 8.5 overs, breaking a 51-year-old record for the most runs conceded by an Indian bowler on debut. Gurnoor Brar also struggled, conceding 96 runs in 10 overs despite taking two wickets. On the positive side for India, Kuldeep Yadav became the ninth Indian player to achieve the milestone of 200 ODI wickets.
