West Jaintia Hills murder solved as three suspects arrested

Police in West Jaintia Hills, Meghalaya solved the murder of 28‑year‑old Damehi Mulieh after his body was recovered on July 31 in Khliehriat, East Jaintia Hills. The victim’s Maruti Alto K10 (registration ML05 AG 0285) was stolen and later intercepted by Gumrah police in Cachar district, Assam, on July 31. Coordinating with Assam authorities, a team from the West Jaintia Hills Police seized the vehicle and brought the two occupants to Meghalaya. Subsequent investigation led to the arrest of three suspects – Dapjingkmen Paslein (26), Samuel Lakai (25) and Duniwankmen Sutnga (26) – who have all been produced before the court. The case, registered as Jowai Police Station Case No. 56(07)2026 under sections 103(1) and 140(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, remains under investigation. Police issued a public advisory urging citizens to secure their vehicles and report any suspicious activity.
