West Java authorities suspend PT Mas Putih Belitung mining in Karawang

The West Java Provincial Government has officially suspended mining operations at PT Mas Putih Belitung in Tamansari Village, Karawang Regency. The suspension, carried out by the Satpol PP, follows repeated warnings regarding the company's failure to meet regulatory and social requirements.

A primary driver for the closure is the severe damage caused to a 10-kilometer stretch of provincial road (Badami-Loji) by heavy trucks, some weighing up to 30 tons, transporting raw materials for cement production. Local residents had previously filed complaints regarding the deteriorating infrastructure.

West Java Regional Secretary Herman Suryatman stated that the company had received warnings in May 2025, May 2026, and August 2026, but failed to address outstanding issues. To lift the administrative sanctions, the company must fulfill four specific clauses: creating public facilities near the mining area, repairing the damaged provincial road, revitalizing sidewalks, and addressing social concerns.
