West Java gas supply shortages impact ceramic industry

Industrial gas users in West Java are facing significant supply constraints, with the Forum Industri Pengguna Gas Bumi (FIPGB) reporting that certain gas supply (HGBT) realization has only reached 88-90 percent of government allocations. PGN has reportedly notified customers of potential supply limitations of up to 80 percent of minimum contract volumes.

This shortage, combined with rising costs, is impacting the manufacturing sector. The Asosiasi Aneka Industri Keramik Indonesia (Asaki) noted that at least six ceramic companies have begun shutting down production lines in September 2026 due to these limitations. Additionally, HGBT prices have reportedly increased by approximately 12 percent, rising from US$8 per MMBTU to around US$9 per MMBTU.
