West Java Governor Dedi Mulyadi targets job growth and infrastructure improvements

West Java Governor Dedi Mulyadi is implementing several initiatives to address employment and urban infrastructure challenges in the province. Through the ‘Nyari Gawe’ application, managed by the provincial Communication and Informatics and Manpower departments, the government aims to connect residents with job opportunities. As of October 21, 2026, the platform recorded 728,085 job seekers and 2.4 million applications. However, data shows a significant gap between supply and demand: of 803 registered companies, only 230 have posted vacancies, totaling 32,125 positions, with 1,282 applicants successfully hired.

Despite rising investment—reaching Rp91 trillion in the third quarter of 2026, representing 17.2% of national investment—the labor force continues to outpace available openings. High concentrations of job seekers were noted in Subang, Karawang, Bekasi, Purwakarta, and Bandung.

Simultaneously, the provincial government is partnering with the Institution of Engineers Indonesia (PII) to tackle traffic congestion and flooding. During the 44th Conference of the ASEAN Federation of Engineering Organisations (CAFEO 44) in Bandung, Mulyadi emphasized the need for better engineering-based spatial planning. Proposed solutions include developing environmentally friendly transportation systems and pilot projects designed to improve driver welfare while modernizing public transit.
