West Java implements measures to support 13,044 laid-off workers

The West Java Provincial Government is implementing measures to protect workers and mitigate economic impacts following 13,044 layoffs recorded between January and September 2026. To maintain household consumption stability, authorities are prioritizing the expedited disbursement of Job Loss Insurance (JKP) and Old Age Security (JHT) benefits through coordination with BPJS Ketenagakerjaan.

To facilitate re-employment, the province is utilizing digital ecosystems, including the ‘Nyari Gawe’ application. As of October 9, 2026, the app has connected 704,121 job seekers with 714 companies, offering 24,085 vacancies and resulting in 1,209 successful placements. Additionally, the government has launched online job fairs via live streaming on the Governor of West Java’s TikTok account, which has engaged 89 companies and provided 5,768 job openings across four sessions.

Beyond placement, the West Java Manpower and Transmigration Office is promoting competency upgrades through vocational training in sectors such as automotive, sewing, barista services, welding, manufacturing, forklift operation, and digital content creation. Entrepreneurship training and Mobile Training Units are also being deployed to enhance workforce competitiveness and support self-employment.
