West Java Police and PWI plan journalist competency partnership

The West Java Regional Police (Polda Jabar) and the Indonesian Journalists Association (PWI) West Java branch are exploring a partnership to conduct Journalist Competency Tests (UKW). This initiative aims to strengthen journalistic professionalism as the media ecosystem shifts toward social media and rapid digital information distribution.

Hendra Rochmawan, Head of Public Relations for Polda Jabar, emphasized that media companies must adapt to digital platforms to remain relevant while maintaining high journalistic standards. Ahmad Syukri, Acting Chairman of PWI West Java, noted that this plan aligns with broader efforts by the National Police to support journalist competency, similar to previous collaborations in the Jakarta Metropolitan area.

Additionally, Buky Wibawa, Chairman of the West Java Regional House of Representatives (DPRD), has called on PWI to enhance its solidarity and adaptability. He highlighted the importance of media providing constructive criticism to assist regional development while ensuring information accuracy to prevent public confusion in the digital age.
