West Java Police Hand Over Kidnapping and Assault Case of Taufik Hidayat to Prosecutors

The West Java Regional Police (Polda Jabar) announced that it will hand over the case files of suspect Taufik Hidayat to the West Java High Prosecutor’s Office. Hidayat is accused of severe assault and kidnapping of a 29‑year‑old woman, identified only as YTR, in Bandung. The investigation, led by the Directorate for Protection of Women and Children and the anti‑human‑trafficking unit, included a reconstruction on 2 July 2026 in which 21 scenes were reenacted at three main crime‑scene locations (TKP 3, 4, 6) and additional sites. Police reported that the suspect’s actions spanned roughly three years at a boarding house in Cileunyi, Bandung Regency, leaving the victim with serious injuries such as vision loss, speech difficulties and impaired mobility. About 31 witnesses have been examined, with two more pending. On 21 July 2026, Kombes Pol Hendra Rochmawan, head of the police public‑relations division, said the file is administratively complete and can be transferred to the prosecutor’s office for prosecution.
