West Java Province Reports 60 Human Trafficking Cases Jan‑June 2026

The West Java provincial government handled 60 human trafficking (TPPO) cases from January to June 2026, continuing an upward trend from 39 cases reported in 2024 and 59 in 2025. The Provincial Agency for Women, Children and Family Planning, led by Siska Gerfianti, said that psychological, social and legal assistance is being provided to victims throughout the recovery process, even after many have been returned to their home regions.

A notable case involves 13 victims from West Java who were trafficked to Sikka Regency in East Nusa Tenggara; authorities and the Lembaga Perlindungan Saksi dan Korban (LPSK) accompanied them during court testimony to ensure a smooth legal proceeding. To strengthen prevention, the province has created a Human Trafficking Task Force, a Coordination Team for Women and Children Protection, and imposed a moratorium on the departure of female migrant workers who have young children.

The ongoing support and new policies aim to reduce vulnerability and improve outcomes for survivors of trafficking within the province.
