West Java regencies prepare for 2026 Porprov sports event

Regional governments in West Java are preparing for the 2026 West Java Provincial Sports Week (Porprov Jabar 2026), scheduled for November 2026 in Bekasi and Bogor.

Bekasi Regency has set a target to secure a top-three position. The local government is preparing 1,300 athletes, coaches, and officials. Despite facing budget constraints following central government cuts, with an allocated budget of approximately Rp15 billion, Acting Regent Asep Surya Atmaja expressed optimism that technical readiness and training quality will drive performance.

Cirebon Regency plans to send a contingent of 391 athletes competing in 38 different sports branches, aiming to break into the top 15. Sukawi, Acting Head of Sports at the Cirebon Youth and Sports Office, noted that while 51 sports are registered for the event, Cirebon's participation is limited to 38 branches due to new registrations and athletes failing qualification rounds.
