West Java regional initiatives focus on waste management and food security
In Ciamis Regency, Victoria Veronica Titisari Kosasieputri, Putri Indonesia Lingkungan Hidup 2026, conducted a field visit alongside the Ministry of Environment team to study community-based waste management systems. The visit focused on sustainable innovations including Black Soldier Fly (BSF) maggot cultivation, composting houses, waste banks, and the TPS3R Kartini facility in Imbanagara Raya. These systems aim to create a circular economy through household waste sorting and organic waste processing.
Meanwhile, the Cimahi City Government, in collaboration with Bulog, distributed regional welfare rice (Rastrada) to 2,227 beneficiary groups to maintain purchasing power during a prolonged dry season. Each group received 30 kilograms of rice. The program targets vulnerable populations, including the elderly and people with disabilities, who are not covered by central government programs like PKH or BPNT, ensuring food security amidst potential agricultural production challenges caused by water scarcity.
