West Java targets youth employment and service improvements

The West Java Provincial Government has outlined several strategic targets for development and public welfare as the province marks its 81st anniversary.

Regional Secretary Herman Suryatman announced a commitment to significantly reduce youth unemployment and improve education levels by 2029. He aims to raise the West Java Youth Development Index (IPP) from its current 62.96 to at least 90 by 2029, emphasizing the need for collaboration between the government and youth organizations like the National Committee of Indonesian Youth (KNPI).

In terms of infrastructure, the provincial government is prioritizing road improvements to support economic growth. As of August 2026, approximately 43.589 kilometers of provincial roads have been completed or repaired out of a planned 149.801 kilometers for the year. Additionally, the government is working on a Regional Spatial Plan (RTRW) to balance development with environmental preservation.

In the health sector, the province is working toward universal health coverage. Currently, 96.90 percent of West Java residents, totaling over 50 million people, are covered by BPJS Kesehatan. The government aims to increase this coverage to 99 percent by 2029.
