West Kelowna Implements Stage 3 Water Restrictions

The City of West Kelowna, British Columbia, has imposed Stage 3 outdoor watering regulations as drought conditions persist. Residents may water lawns only once a week: even‑numbered addresses on Saturdays and odd‑numbered on Sundays. Automatic irrigation may run from midnight to 6 a.m., while manual sprinklers are permitted from midnight to 11 a.m. or 6 p.m. to midnight; sprinkling is prohibited between 11 a.m. and 6 p.m.

Hand‑watering of landscape plants and vegetable gardens remains allowed, but filling swimming pools, hot tubs, decorative fountains, garden ponds, and washing vehicles, driveways, decks or sidewalks is prohibited. The city processes more than 90 million litres of water daily at the Rose Valley and Powers Creek treatment plants and is prioritising water for indoor use, agriculture, fish habitat and firefighting. General manager of operations Patrick Pulak warned that low snowpack, scant rain and high temperatures threaten reservoir supplies and said Stage 4 restrictions, which would ban all outdoor watering, could follow if conditions worsen.
