The incident appears to mirror a global social media trend involving the sinister depiction of the children's character. This trend often utilizes generative AI to create unsettling images of the character outside schools or homes, sometimes accompanied by threatening text such as “see you soon” or “you’re next.”

Law enforcement agencies and school districts, including the Nechako Lakes school district, have issued warnings regarding the potential real-world consequences of these digital posts. RCMP officials noted that depending on the evidence, such actions could constitute offences such as criminal harassment or uttering threats.
