West Sumatra allocates Rp195.1 billion for water infrastructure

The West Sumatra Provincial Government has allocated Rp195.1 billion in Regional Transfer Funds (TKD) to strengthen water resource infrastructure. This funding covers 75 projects managed by the Department of Water Resources and Construction, including river embankment construction, coastal protection, and the rehabilitation of irrigation networks across various regencies such as Padang Pariaman, Agam, and Solok.

Specifically, Rp3.5 billion is earmarked for the rehabilitation of the Ladang Laweh irrigation network in Padang Pariaman, covering approximately 1,919 meters. Other significant allocations include Rp3 billion for Batang Sianok irrigation in Agam and Rp5 billion for Bandar Panjang Salayo irrigation in Solok.

In the financial sector, OJK West Sumatra reported that banking credit to MSMEs reached Rp31.17 trillion in the first half of 2026, accounting for 40.11 percent of the province's total credit. Meanwhile, Governor Mahyeldi Ansharullah has proposed West Sumatra as the host for the 2027 Indian Ocean High-Level Forum, citing the region's strategic position on the Indian Ocean.
