West Sumatra initiates flood recovery and infrastructure repair
Recovery efforts are underway in West Sumatra following recent flooding and hydrometeorological disasters. In Padang, the city government is conducting follow-up data collection in Gunung Sarik to ensure residents with damaged homes receive social assistance. This includes coordinating with the Regional Financial and Asset Management Agency (BPKAD) to facilitate cash aid for those missed in the first round.
In the same region, Pertamina Patra Niaga is providing humanitarian aid in Kuranji, including free health check-ups and trauma healing services for children and the elderly. Meanwhile, the Sumatra Post-Disaster Rehabilitation and Reconstruction Task Force is surveying Padang Pariaman to assess infrastructure damage, specifically identifying critical road failures that impact student commutes and local connectivity.
In Pariaman, the local government has utilized 21.1 percent of its Rp92.4 billion regional transfer fund to accelerate infrastructure repairs and disaster mitigation. The budget is being directed toward road repairs, evacuation routes, health, and agriculture to bolster resilience against future disasters.
