West Sumatra exports rise 21.28 percent to US$1.93 billion
West Sumatra's export value reached US$1.937 billion between January and July 2026, marking a 21.28 percent increase compared to the same period in 2025. This growth was primarily driven by the manufacturing sector.
Animal and vegetable fats and oils remained the dominant export category, accounting for US$1.661 billion, or 85.78 percent of the total export value. Key commodities in this group included liquid fractions of palm oil, crude palm oil, and refined palm oil. Other sectors showing significant growth included chemical products, which rose 44.83 percent, and rubber products, which increased by 44.04 percent. Notably, exports of salt, sulfur, and lime saw a surge of 104.11 percent.
