West Sumatra promotes creative economy and Minangkabau culture
The West Sumatra Provincial Government is promoting the Nagari Creative Hub (NCH) as a space to foster community creativity, particularly among the youth, while preserving local culture and driving the creative economy. During an event in Agam Regency, officials emphasized that NCH should serve as a productive hub for traditional arts, culinary arts, crafts, and traditional knowledge to create new economic strengths for local communities.
In a related effort to promote Minangkabau culture, the West Sumatra Culture Office is hosting the ‘Rauik Rang Mudo’ art exhibition at the Taman Budaya Gallery in Padang. The exhibition, running from September 24 to October 3, 2026, showcases fine arts and crafts created through a collaboration between students from SMKN 4 Padang and SMKN 8 Padang. The initiative aims to provide students with practical experience in the creative process and offer a platform to introduce their work to the wider public.
