West Virginia faces flash flooding and thunderstorm risks

Southern West Virginia and parts of southeast Ohio are facing significant weather risks, including flash flooding and severe thunderstorms. In West Virginia, a corridor across central and eastern regions is under an excessive rainfall outlook, with the potential for isolated flash flooding as heavy rain develops.

Forecasts indicate that rainfall could exceed two inches in the Greenbrier Valley and northern areas, while southern regions may see between one and two inches. Thunderstorms capable of producing winds up to 60 MPH are possible. In addition to new rainfall, existing high water remains a concern for river and stream systems in southeast Ohio.

Following the wet period, a significant temperature drop is expected late in the week, with some areas potentially seeing low temperatures in the upper 30s by Friday or Saturday morning.
