West Virginia football defeats Coastal Carolina 31-24
West Virginia University football secured a 31-24 season-opening victory against Coastal Carolina despite a struggling second-half performance. The Mountaineers established an early 24-0 lead, fueled by running back Cam Cook, who recorded two touchdowns and 119 rushing yards.
Coastal Carolina mounted a comeback in the second half, led by redshirt freshman quarterback Deuce Bailey, who threw for 373 yards and three touchdowns.
