West Virginia football defeats TCU 24-20 in road victory
West Virginia secured a 24-20 victory over TCU at Amon G. Carter Stadium, moving to a 5-3 overall record. The win was sealed in the final minute when David Afogho executed a strip-sack on TCU quarterback Jaden Craig, allowing linebacker Ben Cutter to recover the fumble and end the game.
West Virginia quarterback Michael Hawkins Jr. contributed significantly to the win, rushing for two touchdowns and throwing a 13-yard touchdown pass to Cam Cook. Despite TCU outgaining the Mountaineers in total yardage and time of possession, West Virginia's defense and key plays prevented a late TCU comeback.
TCU head coach Sonny Dykes expressed frustration following the loss, citing the team's inability to finish offensive drives and multiple turnovers in the red zone. The Horned Frogs, now 3-4, struggled to capitalize on several scoring opportunities despite a strong performance from Jaden Craig, who threw for 372 yards.
