West Virginia Greenbrier Resort financing delayed beyond court deadline

Attorneys for U.S. Sen. Jim Justice's family report they are close to a deal with New York‑based Kennedy Lewis Investment Management (KLIM) to refinance the historic Greenbrier Resort. The proposed financing of up to $500 million would refinance existing debt, fund capital improvements and satisfy nearly $300 million owed to White Sulphur Springs Holdings, a company of Texas‑based TRT Holdings.

A court‑ordered deadline of July 16 to close the agreement was missed; the family said the transaction’s complexity could push final closing to the week of July 20. The current debt holder remains skeptical. To keep the resort’s casino license, the parties have submitted required materials to the West Virginia Lottery Commission, which approved the renewal after an audit. The Greenbrier will now undergo quarterly financial reviews for the next twelve months.
