West Virginia men's basketball undergoes roster overhaul

West Virginia University enters its second season under coach Ross Hodge with a significantly restructured roster. Following a 21-14 season characterized by a strong defense but low scoring output, the Mountaineers have focused on improving offensive versatility through the transfer portal and high-level recruiting.

Analytics projections suggest the team may possess the second-most elite three-point shooters in college basketball, tied with Texas Tech, Oklahoma, and Creighton. The projected elite shooters include Finley Bizjack, Joson Sanon, Martin Somerville, and five-star freshman recruit Miles Sadler.

Key additions and returning players include center Mouhamed Sylla, Seydou Traore, and forwards Brenen Lorient and Javan Buchanan, the latter of whom secured a preliminary injunction to play a fifth season. The team opens its season on November 2 against Niagara.
