West Virginia prepares for November general election

West Virginia officials are preparing for the upcoming general election on November 3. Secretary of State Kris Warner is encouraging the state's approximately 1.2 million registered voters to verify their registration status and update personal information, such as name changes, to prevent delays during the voting process.

In Hancock and Brooke counties, several local races are scheduled. Hancock County voters will decide on a seat for the county commission and the position of circuit clerk. Brooke County will see unopposed races for two county commission seats. Additionally, four seats in the West Virginia Legislature are up for election, including three in the House of Delegates and one in the Senate.

This election cycle marks the first time 16 and 17-year-olds are eligible to serve as poll workers in West Virginia, following legislation passed during the March legislative session.
