West Virginia University football seeks win during Homecoming

The West Virginia University (WVU) football team is preparing for its Homecoming game against Cincinnati following a period of significant struggle. After starting the season with three consecutive wins, the Mountaineers have suffered three straight losses, including a recent 52-31 defeat to Arizona.

Concerns have centered on the team's defensive performance. The defense currently ranks 131st out of 138 FBS teams and holds the distinction of being the second-worst in the Power Four. Within the Big 12, the unit has conceded the most points per game, as well as the most passing and rushing yards.

Despite the recent slump, WVU maintains a strong historical advantage over Cincinnati, leading the all-time series 18-3-1 and having won the last four matchups. Head coach Rich Rodriguez has expressed frustration with recent performances, stating the team intends to fix the ongoing issues.
