West Virginia University football updates roster and eligibility

West Virginia University football is implementing several roster changes and navigating eligibility rulings ahead of the season. The program has added Arizona transfer Kayden Luke, a fullback intended to serve as a lead blocker for running back Cam Cook. The addition of a fullback is a rare tactical move in modern college football, aimed at increasing backfield size and blocking effectiveness.

Additionally, tight end Jacob Barrick and defensive back Jason Chambers are returning to the team following a court decision by Colorado District Judge Charlotte Sweeney. The ruling granted a preliminary injunction against the NCAA, allowing members of the Class of 2022 to utilize a ‘5 for 5’ rule for five years of eligibility. While Barrick and Chambers have rejoined team activities, other former players are still seeking similar eligibility extensions.
