West Virginia University football's first fall practice disappoints, fan day set for Aug. 28

Head coach Rich Rodriguez said West Virginia University’s first fall practice did not meet his high‑tempo expectations. Players struggled to complete the full 20‑play series, showing a lack of urgency despite favorable 75‑degree weather. Rodriguez expressed frustration after a 4‑8 season and voiced support for proposed NCAA rule changes that would allow summer practices similar to the NFL.

The program announced a Fan Day on August 28, when coaches and players will sign autographs and interact with supporters. The free event opens to season ticket holders at 11:30 a.m., with general admission beginning at 1:55 p.m. Parking will be available in lots A1, E, F1‑F4 and the Don Nehlen Drive garage, though space may be limited. Autograph and photo policies limit each fan to one signature per person and prohibit posed photos.
