Westbrook Studios develops ‘215’ series about Will Smith and DJ Jazzy Jeff

Westbrook Studios and The Malar Group are developing a new scripted television series titled ‘215’, inspired by the early hip-hop career of Will Smith and DJ Jazzy Jeff. Set in West Philadelphia during the late 1980s, the series will follow a talented teenage rapper and his DJ partner as they navigate the city's burgeoning hip-hop scene.

The narrative will focus on the duo's journey toward mainstream success, exploring themes of ambition, loyalty to their hometown, the pursuit of record deals, and the impact of sudden fame. The title ‘215’ refers to the iconic area code of Philadelphia.

This project marks the beginning of a broader partnership between Westbrook Studios and The Malar Group to co-finance and develop future film and television projects. No network, streaming service, or release date has been announced yet.
