Western Australia releases aquaculture guide for Aboriginal businesses
The Western Australian government has released a new practical guide, ‘Setting up for Success: Aquaculture’, designed to assist Aboriginal organisations in exploring business and employment opportunities within the state’s aquaculture sector. The guide provides information regarding production systems, regulatory requirements, business models, and potential risks involved in the industry.
Developed by the Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development (DPIRD) in collaboration with the Aquaculture Council of Western Australia and supported by the Cooperative Research Centre for Developing Northern Australia, the resource aims to help Aboriginal groups make informed decisions. The initiative follows consultations with Aboriginal people and organisations to ensure the information is relevant to the sector's growth and regional economic diversification.
