Western Australia unveils prospectus for 47 critical minerals projects

The Western Australian government has released the ‘Western Australia Critical Minerals Prospectus 2026’ to attract global investment and strengthen supply chains. Published by the Department of Mines, Petroleum and Exploration (DMPE), the document highlights 47 developing projects across various stages, from pre-feasibility to advanced development and midstream processing.

The prospectus covers a wide range of commodities, including lithium, rare earths, nickel, cobalt, graphite, manganese, and niobium. Notable opportunities mentioned include the 220-million-tonne Luni niobium project and the Pitfield project, which contains an 8.16-billion-tonne titanium dioxide resource.

DMPE Director General Chris Shaw stated that the initiative aims to expand downstream processing and high-value mineral production. The government intends to leverage pre-competitive geoscience data and the Exploration Incentive Scheme to support project progression and regional prosperity.
