Western Balkans Digital Summit emphasizes regional interoperability

At the eighth Western Balkans Digital Summit in Herceg Novi, officials emphasized that regional interoperability is essential for connecting Western Balkan states and facilitating EU integration. While many nations in the region have made progress with digital transformation at a national level, the focus must now shift toward establishing common standards and fostering trust between public administrations to provide seamless regional services.

Naim Gjokaj, State Secretary in the Ministry of Public Administration, noted that digital transformation extends beyond technology; it is about improving institutional efficiency, increasing the accessibility of public services, and creating economic opportunities. He highlighted that despite varying stages of digital development, the region shares common challenges and ambitions. The summit was organized by the Ministry of Public Administration under the auspices of the Government of Montenegro, in partnership with the Regional Cooperation Council (RCC) as part of Montenegro’s presidency of the Berlin Process.
