Western Bulldogs confirm Tim English will stay

The Western Bulldogs have confirmed that All-Australian ruckman Tim English will remain with the club to fulfill his current contract. Despite links to Greater Western Sydney (GWS), Bulldogs recruiter Michael Regan stated the club is ‘hell-bent’ on keeping English, an integral member of the team.

GWS football boss Jason McCartney noted that discussions regarding English were concluded within a week. The interest from GWS follows the departure of Kieren Briggs to Richmond, leaving the Giants searching for established ruck depth.

In addition to securing English, the Bulldogs have recruited Hudson O'Keeffe from Carlton to provide backup in the ruck position. The club also bolstered its roster by signing star midfielder Zak Butters from Port Adelaide during the free agency period.

Speculation regarding English’s future had been fueled by his wife, Rudi Ellis, joining the NSW Swifts in Super Netball. However, the Bulldogs expressed confidence in their ability to support the couple in managing a long-distance relationship.
