Western Fold wins American Grand National Steeplechase

Western Fold, the $4.00 favorite, won the Grade 1 American Grand National Steeplechase at Far Hills in a photo finish. The 7-year-old gelding, ridden by jockey Jack Kennedy, overtook the longtime leader Fil Dor in the final stretch of the 2 5/8-mile hurdle race held on soft turf.

Trainer Gordon Elliott secured the victory with Western Fold, marking another success in the prestigious event. Elliott’s other entry, Zanahiyr—the winner of the previous year's race—finished in third place. This win follows Western Fold’s earlier victory at Punchestown in Ireland this spring.
