Western Galilee Symphony Orchestra performs in Saarland for peace project
Musicians from Israel and Germany participated in a cultural exchange project titled ‘Instruments of Peace’ in Saarland. The initiative featured the Western Galilee Symphony Orchestra, an ensemble composed of both Jewish and Arab musicians, performing alongside youth orchestras and musicians from the Saarland region.
Two concert evenings were held in September, including performances at the Evangelical Church in Saarlouis and the Synagogue in Saarbrücken. The program included works by Franz Schubert, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Edward Elgar, and Dmitri Shostakovich. The project aimed to promote understanding, friendship, and peace through musical collaboration, involving students from the Robert-Schuman-Gymnasium in Saarlouis to foster connections between young people from both nations during a period of international conflict.
